A Front Row Seat to the Center of the City

A Front Row Seat to the Center of the City

Just past the bustling intersection of Dizengoff and King George Streets, the road dips below the famous Dizengoff Square fountain. Established in 1934, the first fountain was the focal point within a garden in the middle of a rotary, and was one of the most popular landmarks of Tel Aviv’s historic “White City.” Officially named “Zina Dizengoff Square” as a tribute to the wife of Tel Aviv’s first Mayor, Meir Dizengoff, the area is still home to admiring locals and tourists alike. Renovated, redesigned, and reopened in 1983, the fountain was elevated above street level to accommodate the growing traffic in the area. Yaakov Agam was the designer behind the project and named his new fountain “Fire and Water.” The Cinema and Center Chic Atlas hotels have one of the best views in all of Tel Aviv of the colorful fountain. A bird’s eye view from the hotels’ rooftops provide guests with a front row seat to the hourly show during the evening hours. Vivid colors spin as water dances from...

Beers, Bands, and ‘Basar’

Beers, Bands, and ‘Basar’

Tel Aviv is known as the most lively city in the Middle East, and host to a plethora of bars and restaurants. Unlike major cities like New York and Miami, Tel Aviv is compact and easily manageable. All our Tel Aviv hotels (Tal, Shalom & Relax, Melody, Cinema, Center Chic, ArtPlus) are in different ares of the center making it so accessible to all that city has to offer. Here are some of our favorite places we recommend to eat, drink, and hang out: Radio–An underground club in central Tel Aviv, Radio has been called a sanctuary for the music lover. Live performances by indie bands and guest DJs create the “indietronica” vibe this place is known for. Located at 7 Shadal Street, Radio epitomizes the eclectic feel of Tel Aviv. Nanuchka–This Georgian restaurant at 30 Lilenblum Street has such a fun atmosphere! It’s not out of the ordinary to see someone (or find yourself) dancing on the bar. Nanuchka is not your typical Tel Aviv bar in...

Favorites of the Israeli Winter

Favorites of the Israeli Winter

The beaches may not be buzzing, but there’s still plenty to explore this winter season while in Israel. Here are Atlas Hotels‘ recommendations for top activities in Israeli winters: 1) The Hanukkah season: The streets are lined with warm, gooey sufganiyot and, glistening menorot, and bright colors. Walking through the old city of Jerusalem at night is remarkable. Menorot brighten the streets and create a warm glow throughout the city. Each year in Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv, the city hosts a giant chanukiyah lighting ceremony. Cinema and Center Chic hotel guests have a front row seat to this epic party in the city’s center. Shalom Hotel & Relax, Melody, and ArtPlus guests aren’t too far either!   2) Sylvester: New Year’s in Israel is unlike other traditions. This secular holiday celebrates winter with a large feast between family and friends. Although Israel has its own new year’s (Rosh Hashana), this holiday is linked to the Gregorian calendar and gives people another reason to come together and celebrate the...

From Within The Cinema Hotel & Tel Aviv

From Within The Cinema Hotel & Tel Aviv

Next weekend – May 2, 3, 4 – is the ‘Houses from Within‘ event in Tel Aviv. We at Atlas are really excited, there are over 100 events, tours and exhibitions going on all across the city. Because there are so many we thought we would help by recommending some we think are most interesting. Our number one recommendation is : A walk through tour of our very own Cinema Hotel  A visit to the first Bauhaus building in the city that underwent restoration, turning the legendary Esther Cinema into our unique boutique hotel. Registration is required as space is limited. For tour times & registration click here (we are number 46 on the page) Because this year marks the 10th anniversary of Tel Aviv’s declaration as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO (the white city) both our Cinema and Center Chic hotels have some of the best and most interesting tours/ exhibits going on right beside them. * Guerrilla Lighting TLV – Thursday, May 2nd 8:30pm Light shooters...
