Skiing in Israel? Why Not?
Skiing may not be the first thought to come to mind when thinking of Israel, but we at Atlas Hotels want to let you know that Mount Hermon is as much a part of northern Israeli culture as the Mediterranean beach is to Tel Avivians.
Visiting Israel during the winter is a unique experience. In a country where colder days are not the norm, many locals welcome the change in climate (December-February) and flock to the north to enjoy the more brisk temperatures. Haifa is one of the most lively cities in the north and a must see for all visitors to Israel.
For those looking to experience all of Isarel, we recommend making a stop in Haifa for a night or two at our wonderful Bay Club boutique before venturing further north to Mount Hermon. Many guests go for just the day as the mountain is only 1 hour and half away.
With the tallest peak in the country at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, and with 14 ski trails, Mount Hermon has something to offer winter visitors of all kinds. The breathtaking views from the top of the mountain are unlike anything in Israel.
Attracting over 300,000 people during the season, Mount Hermon has a wide assortment of rental equipment and private instructors.
After a day on the mountain, we recommend relaxing back in Haifa with a warm cup of coffee or soothing soup at one of the many cafes and restaurants along S’derot HaNassi. Right across the street from the famous Bahai Gardens, it’s just a 10 minute taxi ride from Bay Club, and a scenic place to unwind after a busy day.
If you’re tired from a long day, don’t forget guests are always welcome to enjoy our complimentary Happy Hours each weekday. Join us for tea, coffee, wine, and assorted snacks.
